Hombre Complicado is Rick Cuypers

"The quest for the unreachable leaves us with unerasable traces: some start to drink or cut off their ears; others start to devour food and on top of that Bourgondic life pattern the aches of the psyche build up, one layer after another. However, their obsessive urge to become God one single time, on that panel or canvas is too strong. So strong that sooner or later anything that stands in their way will be eliminated. The work of art itself is a means of postponed suicide, the knife or brush turns into a horrific insect that keeps sucking the artist's blood every night. Order and chaos, satisfaction and void, light and shadow: sooner or later they are banging on the door and demand the artist to descend into the basements of the obscure."

Rick Cuypers is a driven artist, and has been for many years. Almost all things done in his life, are done for art. And in this, he has no boundries. This artist is the exponent of an art stream that was blooming during the magnificent 1960s: The Angry Young Men. Rick Cuypers is one of those Angry Young Men; invisibly driven by his inspiration, he dreams of a civilisation where art has a determined place. In fact his life has been nurtured by this heroic seduction of the great unknown: who am I, what are my aches, what do I have to do? The last of the Angry Young Men is creating a remarkable oeuvre. De War of Colors has exploded completely in the silent kempen.
